Hi guys,
I thought I would start up a new thread about the 2009 World masters in Sydney.

I was wondering if any other masters players out there toying with the idea of going there.

I know the dates are October 10-18 ,2009.and the links is as follows: http://www.2009worldmasters.com/

If you know anything about it , post something about it.

I know that the airfiare alone is around $2000 a person.

If you've been there, tell us about it!!

Let's generate some interest!!

Thanks and looking forward to reading about it!!

Hi Dave.

To tell you the truth, I got a email weeks and weeks ago and I followed the link to the Games site.

From reading all of the information about the games and thinking to myself, it would be a trip of a lifetime to go. I got curious and decided to look at some costs.

I started to look on sites like expedia travel and other travel sites.(ie Quantas airlines) then started to think about other things such as hotels etc.(around Blacktown -site of the softball venue)
I began to add a few things and I found that for a 2-3 week stay with the games included (before extras) was going to be somewhere around 4-5 grand per person.(depending on what you do there)

Just fyi from the games site ; I found this:

Proposed Competition Dates:11-18 October 2009

Venues:
Blacktown Olympic Park NSW Softball Centre, Blacktown
Kelso Park North Softball Complex, Milperra
Jacqui Osmond Softball Centre, Warwick Farm

Age Categories:
Men: 35-44, 45+
Women: 35-44, 45+

Age determined at 31 December 2009.
The youngest player on the team will determine the age category.

Grades:
A - Premier, B - Competitive, C - Recreational

Competition Details:
The competition will consist of round robin play which will determine the subsequent medal rounds. Teams can be expected to play a minimum one game per day.

Each game will consist of seven innings or be 90 minutes in duration. If an innings is in progress at 90 minutes that innings will be completed.

Obvisiously , if I was going to go , I figured to compete in the Premier level and see what happens.

But ,there is alot of things to think about besides the costs, such as the talent of the team.(is it worth going? don't want to be embarassed)
Also, because of the length of the games, you want to have a bunch that will get along with and still be talented.

Over all , thou ,I was just curious to see if anyone else out there is thinking about it too?

That , my friend , in a nut shell is how this all came about and is how I know about some of the costs!

Cheers-- Doug

Hi Everyone.

I thought I would send out another post again, just to see if there is any new news about teams/players that were still thinking about going to Sydney , Australia?

I have been informed that as of right now there is a team from Cornwall area going
( see http://www.eteamz.com/omf/index.cfm? for more info)
and also there is team based out of the Woodstock/Ingersoll area trying to organize a team.

What I hope to see here is:
- can people post some more information.
-Are there any individuals looking for a team to play on?( in both the age divisions , 35+ and 45+)
-I would also think that a team would be trying to do some fund raising.
What are you doing?(your team is more than welcome to post it here if you wish)
-If your looking for additional players- Post it here and see if we can help!?

I know that going to top tournament such as this ,is a big (and costly) thing to organize.
So if we can help out in any way? Post away!!

I ,for one, am interested to here about this and I am sure there is more people interested out there too!

Thanks and looking forward to seeing some information posted!

Doug .
